U3A Latest News

Please note, we have had to cancel the presentation by Ramon Alvarez due to unforeseen circumstances. But we will now have another presentation by Norma Masip called Vikings-The Norse People. It will be at the usual venue, Media Cana, Penocillo, Torrox Costa at 11am. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to put the Art Group into Abeyance, until we can find a new venue. The group leader is looking into a new venue as we speak. We shall inform new and old members of the outcome asap. Sorry for any inconvenience, it has become a popular group for many.

Table Games – held every Tuesday of the month at Mena Golf, Laguna Beach. 1pm for a 1-30pm start. Just turn up.

Munch Bunch- held on the 3rd Thursday of the month. This month’s will take place on Thursday 19th February.

Writers Workshop – held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month.

Discussion Group – held on the 2nd Friday of the month. This month’s will be held on Friday 13th.

History Group – Held on the last Monday of the month. This month’s will be on 23rd February.

Meditation Group – held on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month.
Lecture/Presentation Group – held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. TBC

Book Club/Reading Group – held on the last Wednesday of the month. This months will be 25th February.

Coffee morning – held on the last Thursday of the month. This months will be on 26th February.

Petanca Group – held on the 2nd & last Thursday of the month, which will be the 12th & 26th February

Art Group – held every Wednesday of the month

Mahjong – held every Thursday of the month.

Monthly Meal Deal – held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. This months will be on February 11th.

New and renewal membership forms and membership cards are now available from all the group leaders, subscription continues at €5 per person per year. All groups have met in January with good attendances.

I would like to recommend you go to Media Caña, Penocilla on the 18th February to see Ramon Alvarez de Lara. Ramon leads the Mahjong group but is also a published author. He will talk about his life and the 5book series he has written under his pseudonym RAMALA. Either go to Amazon/Kindle to see a synopsis to look at before the meeting. You can also go onto our Presentation group page and you will find a download button for each book.

Our first meeting of the year will be at Media Caña on Monday January 26th 11am . Norma is presenting ‘ Great Women in History ‘.

Steve Green ( our Speaker from Rotherham) is doing the February Talk on the 23rd. It will be ‘War or the Worlds, man versus nature’. He is being careful not to give too much away!!!

Lorraine has sent out the January activities to members. I’ll just remind you of Table Games every Tuesday at Mena Golf, Laguna Beach,  Torrox Costa.  Also the U3A Coffee Morning ,at Mena Golf  11am, on Jan 29th.
