I’ve always been passionate about History, especially the Tudor era, and studied the subject at school and Teacher Training College. When our U3A was founded in 2009 I joined the History group and subsequently became the Facilitator after Covid. Members said they would prefer a full range of subjects not just Spanish History. Our Talks are fascinating and varied; conducted by members and visiting Speakers. ( no fees!)
There is no cost but polite to buy a drink at the bar as our room and use of their TV is free.
The U3A motto is ‘Learn, laugh and live’ and this we do in abundance! Our members have diverse history interests and experiences and many are willing to share their skills and topics. This is a lively social way to explore the past.
I have a list of history members and regularly send emails with information, reminders and updates. Members are mainly residents from the local area and visitors who attend when they can. Visiting family and friends are also welcome.
We are a happy, informal group who appreciate the research done by our volunteer speakers. It’s shared learning, with diverse topics, and having fun with friends.
